This summer, 37 high school students from 20 parishes across Rhode Island and Massachusetts gathered at Portsmouth Abbey for Mandatum, a five-day leadership experience rooted in prayer, the Sacraments, and authentic Christian community. Throughout the week, these young men and women deepened their relationship with Christ through Mass, Adoration, Confession, the Rosary, and the Liturgy of the Hours. They also participated in leadership workshops, vocation talks, evangelization training, games, fellowship, and time for prayer and reflection. The name Mandatum comes from Jesus' words at the Last Supper: "A new commandment I give you: love one another as I have loved you" (John 13:34). It is a reminder that true leadership begins with humble service and self-giving love. Please keep these young leaders in your prayers as they continue to grow in holiness and bring the light of Christ to their families, schools, parishes, and communities.
