Bishop Bruce has called for every parish throughout the Diocese of Providence to hold an assembly this fall. Assemblies provide an opportunity for the clergy and parishioners to gather for prayer and guided discussion with the purpose of setting pastoral priorities. They are not intended to change the liturgy, dogmas, or doctrines of the Church. Rather, the purpose of assemblies is to:
Listen together for how the Holy Spirit is calling us to live the Church’s mission more faithfully in our time and place
Identify pastoral needs
Discern next steps for ministry, evangelization, and renewal
Strengthen shared responsibility for the mission of our parishes and our diocese
Contact your parish to find the date, time, and location that your parish will hold their assembly. The Bishop hopes all parishioners will come and provide thoughtful input.
To help plan for a smooth and successful assembly, registration is highly encouraged. Your parish will announce how to register and also ask for volunteers to assist with the assembly itself.
