Thalia Meza is the Missionary Discipleship Consultant for the Diocese of Providence. She is a new Rhode Island resident from Southwest Florida and is originally from Southern California.
Before her position with the Diocese of Providence, Thalia served as the Assistant Coach for the Ave Maria University women’s soccer program in Southwest Florida, a role she held for four years. Prior to serving as the assistant coach, Thalia was a graduate assistant for the women’s soccer program from 2019-2021 while she completed a master’s degree in theology. Prior to that, she was an elementary school teacher and coached competitive youth soccer.
During her time in these positions, Thalia grew in understanding and love of Jesus Christ and His Church while also helping others to do the same.
In addition to the on-field responsibilities of a collegiate coach, her role included walking with others in discipleship, creating and cultivating a Christ-centered team culture, helping implement leadership principles, planning and organizing team retreats and events, and coaching others to grow in self-awareness in order to be a self-gift.
Thalia has earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of South Florida Sarasota-Bradenton as well as a master’s degree in theology from Ave Maria University.
Additionally, Thalia is a Certified Catholic Mindset Coach through Metanoia Catholic (2023) and a certified level II Accompaniment Coach through the Human Formation Coalition (2025).
